Life Maintenance: Me & My Girlfriend
I came across this article in the January issue of Marie Claire. If you haven't picked it up yet, you should! If not for this article, because my little sis is featured in the What I Love About Me segment. So proud of her! I digress... Back to Girlfriends... When I flipped to this article, I was glued. I chuckled at the anecdotes and the stories of friction when one half of the girlfriend duo started seriously dating then it hit me... This is me and my bestie! Even though she's on an entirely different continent, I totally depend on her. Other than me being a devout heterosexual, she provides everything I would want in a partner. She has done everything from wipe my tears after a bad break-up to help me change a flat tire. The turn of events that brought about our friendship is so insane, but I honestly believe it was divinely ordered. While I can't promise I won't be a tad bit jealous when she finds the one, I will most definitely still be here. When we're women of a certain age, we'll ride bikes in Italy wearing dresses and bright red lipstick :-).
